There will be two five and one half week long online sessions offered winter quarter 2006 as follows:

  • 1st Session (Jan 9th, 2006 – Feb 15th, 2006)
  • 2nd Session (Feb 16th, 2006 – Mar 25th, 2006)

Other Criteria

• Students interested in registering for a winter quarter 2006 online course must meet with Neil Walker to discuss how online classes work. If you have not previously taken an online course through AiO the last day to register for a winter quarter online class is Wednesday January 4th 2006 at 4:00pm.

• Students must have completed a 2-3 hour online orientation before beginning their first course. This orientation occurs online and must be completed by Friday January 6th, 2006 at midnight. Students registered for online courses who have not completed the orientation will be dropped from their online courses.

• For winter quarter 2006, registration for online classes will begin Nov 21, 2006 and continue throughout the remainder of the fall quarter.

• During the winter quarter ADD/DROP period students who are already registered for one or more online classes may ADD a 2nd Session class or DROP any 1st or 2nd session online class. Please note that if you drop a 2nd session course after Add/Drop week it will be a Withdrawal and you will be responsible for 100% of the tuition. This still applies even if the class hasn’t started yet!!

• During the winter quarter ADD/DROP period (Jan. 9 – 13th) students who have taken online classes before and do not need to repeat the online Orientation may ADD a 2nd session class (but NOT a 1st session class).

• All of the Illinois Institute of Art policies, as outlined in the student handbook, apply to online courses. ILIS students taking an online class are entitled to use all campus facilities just as they would be if they were taking an on-campus class.

• If a student is 100% online for any given quarter, that student MUST be enrolled in one 1st session and one 2nd session class to maintain status as a half-time student. If a student wishes to drop one of his/her classes he or she will need to drop both and take the quarter off.
